The Glasgow Fish Market
KB Refrigeration appointed Quantum Solutions to provide Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management services for Glasgow City Council’s new Fish Market facility. This involved the main Fish Market companies being centralised in one location, by refurbishing part of the existing Fruit Market.
This would be a state-of-the-art Fish Market facility featuring a Buyer’s Walk, therefore it was essential all specialist design aspects were fully investigated and designed correctly.
With four different vendors moving into the facility, all parties’ specific requirements needed to be efficiently and diplomatically co-ordinated.
Believing firmly in team work, we attended regular design team and client meetings to ensure all aspects of the project were being effectively managed and pushed forward.
We liaised closely with KB Refrigeration and the various Fish Market vendors, setting up contracts and managing their specific requirements, while remaining focused on the programme commitments.
KB Refrigeration provided Construction Management services on the project and also carried out the specialist refrigeration and cold storage installation to all Fish Market units. We met regularly with their representative on site to discuss the works and to allow us to subsequently collate on their behalf.
On conclusion of the project, within the agreed timescale, the new Glasgow Fish Market became the first in the UK to achieve this standard and has since led the way on fish market design across the country.
“Glasgow Fish Market was the first project I had worked on with Richard, who was recommended to us. He proved to be an extremely valuable and well respected member of the team – highly professional, incredibly thorough, and more than helpful, often going out of his way to find the information we needed. Since then I have chosen to work with Richard on other projects as he is a genuinely good guy to do business with.”
